How to replace the fogger

Edited

The fogger sits inside the fog tank and turns the water into the fine mist your roots grow in. If the fogger has stopped working, this guide walks you through swapping it for a new one. Support will usually confirm the fogger is the problem before you start.

Before you start

First remove the fog tank from the frame. This guide picks up with the fog tank already out and the fogger visible inside it.

Make sure the cabinet is unplugged from the mains. Pull out either end of the power supply, at the wall or at the bottom of the cabinet.

Have the T10 screwdriver that came with the cabinet to hand. A T10 screwdriver of your own works too if it fits better.

Do not touch the white discs on the fogger.

Step 1: Undo the two screws holding the fogger

With the T10 screwdriver, undo the two screws on the left and right of the fogger that hold it in place. These screws stop the fogger from coming loose while the cabinet is moved. The left screw is shown in the picture.

Step 2: Make room for the fogger

Pull the tube out far enough to give the fogger room to come out.

Step 3: Remove the fogger

Take the fogger out from the left side.

Step 4: Remove the grommet and connector

From under the frame, push the fogger cable grommet up. Unplug the connector, then pull the connector out through the hole in the frame.

Step 5: Feed the new fogger cable through the hole

Take the new fogger. Pass its cable, with the grommet, through the hole in the bottom of the frame. Press the grommet into the hole so it sits flush and seals the opening.

Step 6: Plug in the new fogger

Connect the fogger connector. Line it up so the two arrows point at each other.

Step 7: Fit the new fogger and screw it in

Set the new fogger into the fog tank. Refit the two screws with the T10 screwdriver and tighten them. These screws keep the fogger from coming loose while the cabinet is moved.

Step 8: Return the tube

Push the tube back under the top plate.

Reinstalling the fog tank

Hold the fog tank against the frame from below and line it up with the two screw holes.

Refit the two middle screws with the T10 screwdriver, then tighten them.

Plug the cabinet back in.
