Microgreens: How to Grow & Harvest

Edited

Microgreens are the baby versions of leafy vegetables and herbs, harvested just after the first true leaves appear. Though tiny, they’re nutrient-dense and bursting with flavor, therefore perfect for adding a fresh, vibrant boost to salads, sandwiches, and more.

These delicate plants grow quickly and don’t require thinning. They're typically harvested all at once, just a few weeks after germination.

Good to Know

  • Speedy Harvest: Microgreens sprout in 5-7 days and are ready to harvest within 15-21 days depending on the variety.

  • No Thinning Needed: Just let them grow! These tiny greens are packed in densely and meant to be harvested young.

  • Harvesting: Use clean scissors to snip the stems just above the pod surface when the greens are 3-7 cm tall and have their first set of true leaves. Harvest the entire pod at once for the best flavor and texture.

  • Switch to a new pod: You will have to switch to a new pod after harvest as the harvested microgreens will not start to grow again.
